Accelerate@Babraham 2026: The End of the Programme is Only the Beginning
For the latest Accelerate@Babraham cohort, the taught programme may now be complete, but their journey is far from over.
From May to July this year, founders on Accelerate@Babraham immersed themselves in the intensive programme designed to help early-stage life science ventures develop the skills, knowledge and connections needed to accelerate their growth. From refining business strategies and building investor readiness to gaining valuable industry insight, each company has taken important steps forward on its commercialisation journey.
Now, as the cohort moves into the next phase of the programme, they have taken part in their three-month review with the Accelerate@Babraham delivery team and delivery partners, Triple Chasm. These sessions provide an opportunity for founders to reflect on their progress since completing the taught programme, celebrate achievements, discuss challenges and receive tailored guidance on the next steps for their business.
Importantly, these reviews highlight one of the things that makes Accelerate@Babraham so unique: support does not stop when the taught programme ends.
A Long-Term Commitment to Founder Success
At Babraham Research Campus, we recognise that building a successful life science company takes more than just brilliant science. While the taught programme provides a strong foundation to commercialisation, some of the most valuable support often comes in the months and years that follow as founders navigate funding rounds, business development opportunities, partnerships, and growth.
Accelerate@Babraham alumni remain part of the vibrant and highly connected Campus community, with continued access to resources, networks and opportunities designed to support their ongoing development from idea to impact.
This includes:
Option to participate in the Babraham Leadership Programme led by Marc Cote of Focal Point Training, helping founders and team members strengthen leadership, communication and strategic skills while building relationships across the Campus community.
One Nucleus Gold Membership for one year, providing access to an extensive network of life science organisations, events and expertise.
Free BIA Membership for Start-ups, connecting companies to one of the UK's leading voices for the life sciences sector.
Access to the nextGEN Founder Network, where participants benefit from exclusive leadership sessions with industry leaders, training to support the journey from founder to CEO, peer and investor introduction network, and access to leadership content.
Membership of the Milner Therapeutics Institute, opening doors to collaboration and engagement across academia and industry.
The Founders Growth Community, a dedicated programme of workshops, roundtables and peer-to-peer learning designed to support founders as they progress beyond the earliest stages of growth.
The Babraham Mentorship Scheme, which connects participants with experienced professionals from across the Campus. So far, more than 170 mentor-mentee pairs have been successfully matched.
Complimentary access to selected industry and Babraham Research Campus events.
In addition to these benefits, the ventures can access one-to-one support from the Accelerate@Babraham delivery team. Whether founders are exploring grant funding opportunities, seeking investor introductions, developing commercial partnerships or looking for strategic advice, the team remains available to help.
This ongoing relationship reflects a genuine investment in the success of every founder. The team takes great pride in seeing alumni progress, and remains committed to providing support as ventures continue to grow.
The Three-Month Review
The 2026 cohort have just completed their three-month reviews, which provided meaningful opportunity for them to catch up with the delivery team and Triple Chasm, and present their progress to date.
Programme Manager and Senior Lead for Science and Entrepreneurship, Dr Jenny Hirst commented “It was great to have all the ventures in the one room again – there’s so much that can be learnt from shared experience, even though they span therapeutics and medical devices. Great to hear about positive decisions to pivot or re-position based on expert advice, and how patients and charities are at the centre of mind and discussions”.
Their progress is a powerful reminder that Accelerate@Babraham is more than an accelerator programme. It is a long-term community of support, expertise and connections, designed to help ambitious life science companies grow from idea to impact.
Dr Jonathan Best, Cambridge Neuroworks Fellowship Operations Manager added “The reflections of the teams on the past three months demonstrated the power of partnership in accelerating innovation. The cohort have built valuable relationships with clinicians, researchers, investors, and industry partners which are shaping their next stage of development. Combined with the expert support and strategic guidance, these connections have strengthened their proposition and enabled them to move more rapidly towards commercial and patient impact.”
The taught programme may have come to an end for this year's cohort, but their Accelerate@Babraham journey is only just beginning.
For founders considering their next step, applications for the next Accelerate@Babraham cohort open in January 2027.
