Babraham Research Campus Ltd is responsible for the development and management of the Campus on behalf of its shareholders; BBSRC-UKRI and the Babraham Institute. The Campus is one of the UK’s leading places to support early-stage bioscience enterprise and is distinct in its co-location of bioscience companies with the Babraham Institute. World class research and business come together to promote innovation and strengthen links between academia and the commercial world.

The Babraham Research Campus Team

Executive Team

The experienced Executive Team at the Babraham Research Campus are at the heart of the Babraham Ecosystem.  They ensure that the ongoing development and management of the Campus provides the appropriate space, connectivity and opportunities for the Babraham Institute, commercial Campus companies and, research-led technology platforms and services to co-locate successfully. 

The combined expertise and skill of the team enables the Babraham Research Campus to offer a unique combination of capability across research, science-led facilities, and business support (including entrepreneurship and attracting high quality investment). These capabilities enable world leading discovery bioscience research, generate new knowledge and concepts, support translation and company creation and help to accelerate company growth and scale-up.

The Board of the Babraham Research Campus includes representation from our shareholders, BBSRC and the Babraham Institute, as well as leading life science entrepreneurs and international pharmaceutical organisations based within the Cambridge cluster.

Operational Team

Our dedicated Babraham Research Campus teams support every aspect of life on Campus, from the management of the grounds themselves to maintenance of all the buildings on the Campus. In addition, the Security Team manage our 24-hour security provision and act as the first point of contact for all visitors and our Helpdesk staff are available to offer occupiers support and advice when required.

Babraham Institute

The Babraham Institute is a world-class research organisation, at the heart of the Babraham Research Campus. Its mission is to be an international leader in fundamental biology with expertise in epigenetics, immunology and signalling and an overall focus on healthy ageing. The Institute collaborates with research organisations worldwide and it provides external users with access to its cutting-edge scientific facilities.

BBSRC

BBSRC is part of UK Research and Innovation, a new body which works in partnership with universities, research organisations, businesses, charities, and government to create the best possible environment for research and innovation to flourish. It aims to maximise the contribution of each of its component parts, working individually and collectively. BBSRC works with its many partners to benefit everyone through knowledge, talent and ideas. In 2017-18, BBSRC invested £498 million in world-class bioscience and supports around 1,600 scientists and 2,000 research students in universities and institutes across the UK.

The Babraham Research Campus Partnerships

We have developed close partnerships with a number of organisations to enhance the facilities and services available at the Babraham Research Campus. These organisations include Kadans, whose facility provides R&D support for knowledge-intensive businesses in innovative sectors, such as the life sciences, health and biotechnology. BioMed Realty whose £35M investment has resulted in the development of additional scale-up facilities on Campus, and One Nucleus whose events and membership services we actively support.
