Mission Therapeutics is an early-stage drug development company targeting the ubiquitin pathway for the treatment of neurodegenerative disease, rare mitochondrial diseases and fibrosis. The Company has built a leading platform for the discovery and development of first-in-class, small molecule drugs that selectively target deubiquitylating enzymes (DUBs) – an emerging drug class that is attracting significant commercial interest in the area of protein homeostasis.

We currently have an opening for two in vivo scientists to join our pharmacology team. The successful candidates will be involved in the day-to-day running and delivery of key preclinical in vivo assays and associated activities to aid selection and progression of MISSION’s candidate drugs from lead identification through to clinical nomination. Specifically, you will provide hands-on in vivo pharmacology expertise for the discovery and development phases of the company’s small molecule drug discovery programmes. This will include delivering PK/PD/efficacy studies in conjunction with MISSION’s biology teams, as well as supporting translational research on our programmes in oncology, fibrosis and neurodegeneration, and developing innovative preclinical models. You will also be responsible for writing laboratory protocols and analysing data. Laboratory work is a major component of this role and a high level of independent working is required. The role may require some weekend work.

Essential skills & experience

• Life science B.Sc. or equivalent experience

• Home Office personal licensee with a thorough understanding of regulatory requirements

• Working knowledge of preclinical ADME/PK/safety/efficacy models.

• Strong computer/software skills for data entry/analysis

• Methodical with excellent attention to detail

• Team player with good communication skills

• Ability to work independently under minimal supervision

Desirable skills & experience

• Experience working in a relevant industry/biotech environment

• Experience with in vivo oncology models

• Proficient in general cell culture/molecular biology techniques/Western Blot and ELISA

• Surgical skills/understanding of aseptic techniques and good practice

• Formulation experience

• Ability to work to timelines and under pressure in a dynamic environment

• Good problem solving skills
