Babraham Research Campus is recognised as one of Europe’s most successful locations for life science start-ups, and a key part of that reputation is Accelerate@Babraham - the Campus’ flagship pre-seed company support programme.
Founded in 2018, Accelerate@Babraham was created to support early-career entrepreneurs with sustainable, science-led business propositions who have the imagination, creativity and resilience to succeed in a demanding and fast-moving sector.
The year-long programme offers five early-stage life science start-ups the opportunity to join the Babraham Research Campus community, benefiting from:

LiveLabs: A smarter way to get started in the lab
For companies at the very beginning of their journey, LiveLabs offers a fast, flexible and low-risk entry into high-quality laboratory space.
Now operating from an expanded and enhanced facility, LiveLabs provides fully managed, co-working laboratories that remove the barriers often faced by early-stage ventures - such as long leases, capital expenditure and operational complexity.
From generating first datasets to establishing proof of concept, LiveLabs enables teams to focus on the science while the day-to-day lab management is taken care of.
LiveLabs offers:
- Fully equipped molecular biology and cell culture labs, with access to shared high-spec equipment including safety cabinets, incubators, real-time PCR systems and plate readers.
- Comprehensive lab services, covering PPE, waste management, training and maintenance.
- Flexible workspaces, including shared desks, meeting rooms, AV-enabled spaces and Campus-wide Wi-Fi.
- Short, scalable memberships, starting from just three months, with full- or part-time access.
The result is the capability of an established biotech facility, delivered with the agility of an incubator.

As businesses grow beyond co-working but are not yet ready for fully independent facilities, Babraham Research Campus also offers a range of adaptable start-up accommodation designed to bridge that gap.
Units start from 600 sq ft and are configured to support both wet-lab research and write-up activity, with layouts that can evolve alongside teams and programmes.
Current start-up space includes:
- Moneta Building: Flexible wet-lab and office units with access to shared cold rooms, freezers, kitchens and communal meeting spaces – from 600 sq ft.
- Meditrina Building: Fully fitted laboratories and write-up areas with open-plan collaboration zones, shared facilities and on-site support – from 1,000 sq ft.
These spaces combine plug-and-play readiness with access to the Campus’s wider amenities, enabling companies to stay focused, productive and connected.
