The Babraham Institute is a world-class research organisation, at the heart of the Babraham Research Campus. Its mission is to be an international leader in fundamental biology with expertise in epigenetics, immunology and signalling and an overall focus on healthy ageing. The Institute collaborates with research organisations worldwide and it provides external users with access to its cutting-edge scientific facilities.
The Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) is one of seven research councils that work together as Research Councils UK (RCUK). It is funded by the government's Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS). BBSRC has invested £469 million in world-class bioscience in 2016-17, supporting around 1600 scientists and 2000 research students in universities and institutes across the UK.
We have developed close partnerships with a number of organisations to enhance the facilities and services available at the Babraham Research Campus. These organisations include Imperial College London, whose ThinkSpace facility provides support to science and technology-based companies striving to build businesses that originated with research from universities and increase their impact. BioMed Realty whose £35M investment will see the development of additional scale-up facilities on campus, and One Nucleus whose events and membership services we actively support.
