BioBabraham 2026

The BioBabraham Symposium took place yesterday, bringing together the community to celebrate the scientific innovation that defines the Babraham Research Campus. Hosted in the Connect@Babraham event space, the event showcased the innovation and collaborative spirit that make this campus one of the UK’s leading life science ecosystems.

Led by Dr Louise Jopling, Chief Scientific & Innovation Officer at Babraham, the symposium brought together 16 speakers representing the entire campus community from Accelerate@Babraham alumni and LiveLabs companies, to scaling companies on campus and researchers from the Babraham Institute. Each shared their latest breakthroughs, challenges and opportunities, offering a vivid snapshot of the cutting‑edge science happening here every day.

A major new addition for 2026 was the Investor Panel, delivered in collaboration with Optimum Strategic Communications. Hosted by Mary Clark, Chief Executive Officer at Optimum, the session featured three investors who offered valuable insight into attracting investment in a turbulent market. The discussion was one of the day’s standout moments, sparking thoughtful conversations during the networking session after the panel ended.

We were also honoured to welcome the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT), whose Deputy Director, R&D Strategy, Thomas Gelderd, delivered the keynote opening remarks. Their attendance at the symposium reflects the important role that Babraham Research Campus and the wider Cambridge life sciences ecosystem play in driving innovation, investment and growth.

Throughout the day, the atmosphere was buzzing. Delegates from campus companies, the Babraham Institute, and invited investors and industry leaders filled the space with conversation, exploring collaboration opportunities, connecting with peers, and discovering emerging science from across the community.

The BioBabraham Symposium once again highlighted what makes this campus the best place for bioscience entrepreneurs to discover, innovate, grow and thrive. We look forward to building on the momentum in our upcoming spotlight session later on this year.
