Knowledge Transfer Objectives

Knowledge Transfer Objectives

BBT promotes awareness within the Babraham Institute, of knowledge transfer and commercial opportunities deriving from the Institute's research and cultivates opportunities enabling research partnerships to flourish.

BBT manages Babraham's Intellectual Property portfolio, actively promoting knowledge transfer through licensing, collaborative development programmes and the creation of spin-out companies. Babraham's patent portfolio encompasses novel IP and technologies for Human Healthcare and Biotechnology applications. The Institute's Cell Signalling, Developmental Genetics, Cellular Immunology and Neurobiology research programmes are actively engaged in collaborative research projects with national and international companies of all sizes in the pharmaceutical and biotech sectors.

BBT aims to:

  • stimulate awareness of knowledge transfer and to support entrepreneurial spirit;

  • raise interest in Babraham's science from potential commercial collaborative partners;

  • manage an active and wealth-creating IP portfolio.

  • BBT's commitment to developing Babraham Institute's Intellectual Capital is set in the landscape created by the Babraham Research Campus. It creates the means by which BBT can generate an industry pull rather than a technology push to drive the KT processes; a biomedically-orientated KT continuum, from science to technology to products. In this way the Babraham Group can proactively engage with its user communities.
