Overview
The Babraham Research Campus brings together academic and commercial excellence and aims to be the location of choice for establishing biomedical enterprises in the UK. There are currently about 400 research scientists and staff at the Babraham Institute and approximately 200 people working at the Biotechnology companies on the campus. The juxtaposition of companies with the Babraham Institute on the campus allows synergistic relationships to flourish between the academic and business communities.
The campus offers bespoke accommodation for bioventures at any stage in the business development cycle and supports the full spectrum of science from R&D to commercial realisation. Central to our philosophy is the provision of state-of-the-art research facilities, scientific and technical support services and an underlying infrastructure that will enable the campus to deliver a ‘knowledge transfer continuum’ where science of the highest quality, leads to discoveries and commercial products and services that will improve the quality of life and contribute to the Eastern Region’s economic competitiveness.
The Campus offers an enviable a range of scientific and corporate services that provide a supportive environment in which emerging scientific enterprises can flourish. We recognise that security is of critical importance and our 24/7 security control provision, with CCTV coverage, enables our security team to respond rapidly to any emergency on the campus. Those working on site have automated monitored entry with access to the campus outside normal working hours. The catering and conferencing facilities offer an exceptional service, at a competitive cost, for all staff and for corporate events. Conference, seminar and meeting room facilities, seating between 10 and 200 people, are available during normal office hours and refreshments, working lunches or formal dining can be arranged.
For those with children, the Babraham Nursery, situated in a quite corner of the campus surrounded by fields, offers a safe, attractive and stimulating environment for the formative pre-school years. The nursery currently accommodates up to 60 children (6 weeks to 5 years) divided into base rooms according to age, and recently celebrated its 15th anniversary and excellent OFSTED recommendations.
